Mount Samat Escapade
Let me first talk about the history of the place. Dambana ng kagitingan, it is known as the Final Battle of Bataan. U.S. and Filipino soldiers had been steadily retreating in the face of a Japanese offensive that had begun in the Philippines way back in December of 1941. Japanese troops landed on Luzon and began pushing south. They had been able to hold off defeat even though they were out-gunned, out-fed, and out-equipped. But then the Japanese brought in the big guns…literally. Tired of delay and desperately trying to stick to a “victory” timeline, opposing General Masaharu Homma rolled up big 150mm and 240mm howitzers. If you don’t like math, a 240mm cannon is essentially a 10″ gun. Navy cruisers used 10″ guns…they were very large.
Now, my story starts here. Early in the morning of April 9, 2011 (Araw ng Kagitingan), I was suppose to go to Balanga to inquire about my Broadband connection but my friends insist me to come with them, and so i did. They wait for me to finished taking a bath. so we went off, we arrived in the feet of Mt. Samat approximately 8:43am, we are about to walk to the summit but a fucking tanod told as that there will be a free ride, so we grabbed the opportunity to have a free ride. a group of girls were next to us and we learned that they are from Quezon City and we exchanged chats. Minutes went to hours and we can't fucking board the bus because the line is not organized, until such time that there is no bus available, and so again we decided to fucking walk, and later i realize that it's 7Km long, and its freaking hot. we took hours of walking then suddenly a bus came by and I was the only one who boarded, and my friends is like "What the fuck men, fuck you". I was the first one who arrive, in a little while my friends got it to the top and they are so fucking exhausted. I didn't feel the urge of making it to the top, but at least i make it to the top.
Me and my boys took pictures of the wonderful place there, it's a fruitful feeling because its worth a try, just gazing the cross is so cool that your exhaust body became energized again. There you will see the history of how great our raise is, becoming a Filipino is worth dying for. you will see different symbols i didn't recognize, like the symbols of our old Army. Later we learned that President Noynoy was there before we arrived. So we continued our journey, going to the summit of Mt Samat, when you make it to the top it's even more beautiful, and all of a sudden the summit was filled with clouds and we even touched the clouds, it's an unforgettable feeling for me, touching the clouds with your two bare hands. I learned that the structure was built by late President Ferdinand Marcos (my Idol). It took a while before we decide to go down. And, at-last we got home to rest, but suddenly we decided to drink. LAMBANOG on the House, baby!!!! (care of Zy). And the drinking session is on. We were Drinking when I wrote this Blog. Enjoy Guys!!!!
